Opsera Announces Low-Code Salesforce Devops Pipeline Service
Opsera, an independent software vendor based in San Francisco, today announced support for Salesforce release management as part of its low-code, multi-cloud devops platform. “Opsera provides choice, flexibility and out-of-the-box integrations, and a common architectural framework to automate end-to-end software delivery management across Salesforce, software delivery life cycle, and infrastructure as code to deliver features faster, safer and reduce overall management cost,” said Kumar Chivukula, CTO and co-founder of Opsera in a press release.
Not The Usual Salesforce ISV
Opsera does not have the background of a typical Salesforce ISV. Instead of coming from a Salesforce background, the company was founded in early 2020 by two Silicon Valley veterans from Uber and Symantec. The company is on the VC fast track, having received a $15 Series A equity investment in April 2021, which is just 15 months after being founded.
Drag-n-Drop Devops
One way to think about Opsera is that they want to be the “Zapier of devops.” Opsera does for people involved in devops what Zapier did for people involved in data integration, which is to use a drag-and-drop graphical user interface which makes it easier for regular businesspeople to accomplish tasks that involve multiple systems connected by the Internet.
Using a low-code system to set up a devops pipeline is appealing, especially in the Salesforce ecosystem where there are many more low-code-competent workers than experienced devops engineers.
Supports Most Common Devops Functions
Opsera already works with dozens of devops products and services, including many already used by Salesforce devops practitioners.
Most services included in Opsera’s integration list are familiar to traditional devops engineers. These include Kubernetes, GCP, Azure Cloud, AWS, OpenShift, Datadog, Selenium, NPM, and many other lower-level services.
Opsera also includes observability features, such as a console to observe metrics being emitted during the devops process. Opsera seems to have a cogent approach to how it deals with devops metrics, especially when compared to most other Salesforce devops products.
New Salesforce Features
The new features in Opsera’s new offering include support for pipelines based on SFDX-CLI or Apache ANT. Also, Opsera supports GitHub, Gitlab, and Bitbucket repos, and it watches Git repos for commits and will automatically launch a release pipeline. Additional features include unit test management, application security testing scans, regression testing, and Jira integration.

This announcement and product demonstration by Opsera shows they have begun to add Salesforce-specific enhancements to their component-oriented devops construction kit. As the industry moves to incorporate more devops engineering functions into software, companies like Opsera should bring better pipeline management to more Salesforce orgs.
