As enterprises invest in devops as the new means of production, Chicago-based Copado today announced they are extending their platform to a dozen cloud services, including MuleSoft<\/a>, SAP<\/a>, and Veeva<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t\t

    Major Strategy Declaration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Copado and its devops platform competitors have found success in large Salesforce implementations. If an enterprise spends $10M a year on Salesforce licenses, then that enterprise will be inclined to spend another few hundred thousand dollars to optimize the app production process. The catch comes when an enterprise steps back and realizes that they are creating silos of functionality with a devops platform that covers only one major SaaS service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This announcement by the company represents a major strategy shift which recognizes the multi-cloud reality now faced by major enterprises. “Every customer-facing process now crosses multiple clouds and the ability to connect and orchestrate cross-cloud processes is an important value driver for our customers and partners,” said Federico Larsen, CTO and co-founder of Copado in a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Multi-Cloud Enabled by Copado Functions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Copado Functions, which was announced publicly for the first time during today\u2019s announcement webinar, is a universal continuous integration (CI) engine based on Salesforce. It is a scriptable system, running within Salesforce security parameters, that is used to command devops functions. The company promoted the fact that Copado Functions is available to customers as a SaaS service, obviating the need to set up customized CI\/CD scripting engines such as a CircleCI or Jenkins. Copado Functions also resolves some long-standing logging issues and offers the ability to combine logging and metrics from multiple clouds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With Copado Functions, developers write code to manage complex, multi-cloud deployments. Functions written this way are triggered using Copado Deployment, Salesforce Flows, Apex, and custom buttons. The company even stated the system could be used to build new Docker images and deploy them to Kubernetes clusters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Summer \u201821 Release Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In today\u2019s announcement webinar, the company detailed many changes to the platform, some of which have already been rolled out in recent months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Multi-cloud integrations, which include consolidated user stories across platforms, led the list of new features, with SAP and MuleSoft integration available immediately. The company also said they are planning on expanding to Salesforce Commerce Cloud by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Enhancements and new features touted during the webinar include speed improvements, a License Manager overhaul, feature voting, and a better 3rd<\/sup> Party integration framework for Jira and application management lifecycle tools, new Lightning components for value stream management, plus Compliance Hub enhanced usability and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
